Hello Everyone!!
We have lived here for nearly 2 years and love it, and the wonderful mild climate surely is a major plus.
If you are seeking to vacation some place with refreshing country-sea air, lots of sunshine, never too hot or cold, cool nights, and beautiful landscape (perfect for walking, biking, horseback riding), quaint villages, pristine beaches (perfect for surfing, ) and amazing historical sites come to the Sintra Natural Park. An added bonus is that most of the area restaurants (we´ll tell you which ones are off the tourist beat) have delicious food at affordable prices and there are lots to choose from.
While other parts of Portugal and other Mediterranean countries are often sweltering and the beaches overcrowded, the temperatures in the Serra da Sintra stay comfortable (we use our down duvet all the year, except for the occasional night in July) and the beaches are never packed like sardine-cans. There are several beaches that require a bit of walking/hiking to get to. And the reward for the effort is hundred-fold, these are fantastic magical places with only a handful of people enjoying the incredible beauty. Consider vacationing in Portugal and say at Colina Flora, a small, yet lovely, country eco guesthouse, located int he heart of the Sintra hills with ocean views and only minutes to beaches www.colinaflora.com
