Another delicious GF/Grain free Brunch recipe from Colina Flora Eco-B&B

4/4/2020

This cocooning phase is enabling us to  take the time to experiment with new recipe ideas for future delicious brunches at Colina Flora.

Colina Flora sumptious brunches are much enjoyed and appreciated by guests.  We  only use organic, sugar free, and whenever possible, locally sourced ingredients.  We love supporting a variety of small farmers and food artisans.

Todays creation is a yummy apple&almond bake with lemon  sauce...quick and easy : nutrious for breakfast but also a great desert.

Ingredients:
1 Tablespoon butter, ghee  or coconut oil
6 large apples (we use fuji) cored and chopped into small pieces
1 cup almond pulp leftover from making almond milk or almond meal
1/ 4c maple syrup or honey or combination
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamon
1 Tablespoon melted butter or ghee or melted coconut oil
pinch of salt
put the butter in pie plate, and put in oven for a few minutes to melt
then put apples in the  pie plate, stir a bit to coat with melted butter, and sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon

mix the almond pulp/meal with melted butter, salt, spices and  spread on top of apples.
bake for  about  about 20 to 30min at 180 degrees C or 350 F

Lemon Sauce:
Mix 1 cup almond Milk with 1/4 cup maple syrup, pinch of salt, zest of one  lemon, juice of 2 lemons and 2 Tablespoons arrowroot or corn starch.  Bring to a gentle boil, simmer until thicken and let cool.

Serve lemon sauce with the apple/almond bake ...enjoy!!

Personalized Self-guided Walking/Cycling, Wine and Gourmet Tours in the Sintra Natural Park, Portugal

4/1/2019

Colina Flora guesthouse strives to offer a great level of service.  Personalized attention to your requests is a  high priority.

Upon request, the staff at Colina Flora can arrange customized wine tours, gourmet tours and self-guided walking/cycling tours of the colares Region.

Colares wines are the oldest wines and some of the best  on the planet.  The European blight of the late 1800´s which decimated most of Europe´s Vineyards did not affect the grape vines in the Colares region.  There are several small vineyards which offer interesting tours and tastings.  There are many small, family run restaurants featuring the regions best fish and home made specialties.  Pared with the local wines meals  become a memorable treat.

Due to the mild, sunny, No-Frost climate tours can be arranged year round.  Early Spring and late Autumn are some of the best times to visit.
